JAMES TORTORE, London c.1740

A statuesque and elegant longcase clock of very high quality with exceptional burr walnut veneers.

The case is constructed of oak with superb burr walnut veneers throughout. It features a bridge topped door with applied moulded edging and featherbanding inlay to door font and base together with chamfered edging to trunk and base. The hood has reeded and brass inlaid columns to door and bold brass capitals. The shallow caddy top has open fretwork panels to arch and sides.
